IDQ 12, IDMAX 12, or other?

There seems to be a good deal for the IDQ 12" on SoundDomain right now. I am kind of lukewarm with my current 12w3v1 and want more SPL while still retaining SQL. The IDQ seems to be a perfect match for my amp and it's only $160 right now. But I reeeeally like the idea of a loud-as-hell IDMAX such as this one. Only problem is that I worry the 480 RMS from my amp won't drive it hard enough for my tastes. Any other suggestions? Id like to spend less than $300-250 if I can.

the oz does not have the SAME motor as the idmax. its very similar though, almost a knockoff. kinda dis-heartening but it hapens. still great speakers. i have two of the ME12.4's, and i have a pair of IDQ15's.

the IDQ15's have 600~800 RMS to them infinite baffle and they arent loud enough for me. im pretty sure they just want more power. ALMOST loud enough, but not quite.

the 12.4's were in ~3 cubes net, and had ~1500w from a american bass VFL150.1 in a ford ~95 tarus sho. they sounded real clean, kinda sounded like they wanted a smaller box size - but thats what was available for testing. they didnt get as loud as i would have liked - but again it was a pretty sealed up trunk and the box wasnt optimal for them IMO.

the idmax would sound similar to the OZ ME 12.4's and an IDQ has nothing to do with spl at all.

i think the right sub for you would be an IDmax or OZme. if you dont have enough power, dont worry about it for now. get it, play with it, and if you decide thats the case, then sell what you have and buy something bigger //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

good luck man.

ps

out of them all, the IDQ's sounded the best to me however their max volume is what i liked to listen to them at (~300w each) and i wanted that to be more accessable and my amp didnt like it. so im upgrading amps.

i hit quote on accident. ****it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

Is there any place to pick up an IDMAX 12" D4 for less than $450? I assume the dealer in Mankato (closest to me) will **** me senseless and penniless.

You had them in 3 cubes sealed for both and it sounded too big? Muddy perhaps?

Its weird because I at first had mine in 1.5 cu ft sealed net and thought it was a little muddy. Then I changed to 1.2 cu ft for it, and wish I would have just stuck with the original box because I miss the low end.

Oh btw... on the motor thing. A quote from you:

Lol

lol pwnd for good!

but no after i posted that. i ended up doing some research and fell on some stuff on the ID forum about the OZme and the IDmax, and they were saying its a very similar design, but not exact.

so //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

and yea it was a bit muddy. but i guess ive never listend to most of the music that he was playing - so i COULD be all wrong. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

ill hear it more as the install progresses. we should be making some boxes for them shortly.

as far as where to get them without sticking a large un-lubricated utencil into your rectum? i have no idea. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
