Just to add a bad experience that I had with mounting an amp to a sub box.... I had a Rockford Punch 360.2 mounted to a sub box holding a 15 inch Rockford HE2. After about a year the speaker blew out. About 2 months later another one went out. About 2 months or so after that another one went out. I pulled the amp off the box for inspection and found that a bunch of capacitors fell off inside of the amp. I am suspecting that the cause was a combination of the heat and vibrations. After I had the amp repaired the sub ran just fine (thank goodness for extended warranties). However, I have mounted 5 or 6 other amps that I have used to the back of sub boxes without any problems.
