I friggin' love Las Vegas! Not just for the gambling/playing but for the whole atmosphere and being able to do just about anything, extreme or mellow, at any time of day or night.
On the game floor, I'm a big fan of Black Jack and some poker. It's funny, in Vegas I almost always leave the black jack tables ahead (some times, by a good margin) but at the looser Indian casinos around my town, I have never been very successful. There's gotta' be something to that.
Still, it's fun to walk in with a few hundred (knowing you will lose it all, so plan on it) and have the potential to walk out with double that.
Slots are money sponges, but I have some weird luck with the ones called Red White and Blue. First time I hit one was a long time ago, my buddies and I were in Vegas and we just cashed out at the Golden Nugget (I was WAY up on the BJ table there -- thank you very much Golden Nugget, by the way!!!), and I was waiting by the front door for my last buddy to finish cashing out, so I dropped the only 3 quarters I had in my pocket in the RWB slot, hit the button and nailed a $1000 jackpot right there. I took my bud's to a strip club immediately, and paid everything. VIP level treatment for hours (and nice stuff to look at and play with). In fact, we were having such a blast, all the dancers were totally turned on by it/us and one of them went back to my hotel room after a few of the dancers treated us to some way cool local-knowledge partying after the club. What a night!
Almost every time I hit RWB slots, I hit some nice pay-out. Did another $1000 spin when my wife was taking a nap in the room, when we went there together several years ago. BJ, like I said, usually comes out in the positive for me, in LV only, but the deliberate accumulation of increase is addictive and fun but is certainly a different experience from doing a walk-by spin on a slot and hitting a grand or so.
Whoa... that turned into a rant. *heh*
