Okay so here is the deal, I have two 12 inch kenwood subwoofers, and a kenwood amp. both links are there.

Amazon.com: Kenwood KFC-W3012 12" Performance Series Subwoofer: Electronics

Amazon.com: Kenwood KAC-9104D 1800-Watt Max Power 1 ohm Capability Class D Mono Power Amplifier with Variable LPF: Electronics

I have tried for 4 months to tune them correctly and get them to sound great, and it sounds ok but i think im doing it wrong. I dont know **** about it also //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

I tried searching the forums and stuff but i couldnt find much. so im hoping there is atleast 1 kind person that can help me out

On my amp there is

Bass Boost Level (dB) 0-18

ISF off-15Hz-25Hz

Phase 0-180

LPF Frequency Hz 50-200

Input Sensitivity (v) 5-0.2

Can someone tell me how i should set these dials ?? lol i probably sound like such a nub. xD

Bass boost - 0, Keep it all the way off

ISF? Whatever it is, just keep it off

Phase - 0

LPF - Set it around 100 hz; on your headunit set the HPF at 100 hz

Input Sensitivity is another word for "Gain". To set that:

Turn the gain all of the way down

Turn your headunit up to max listening volume

Keep turning the gain up until you can hear your subs start to distort, then just back it down a little

Done! That isn't a crazy loud setup though, so you might be expecting too much out of it.

Okay thanks man, im not going for mad loud crazy, i want it to sound more clear than it has been, and just cleaner. it sounds crappy atm lol
You can set the LPF at really whatever you want, it's just a preference for people. When applying the LPF to your subs, it's making sure they DON'T play above the frequency you set. It's different for everyone. With my little 5.25 components, I set mine at 100hz, but as posted above, you can set it at 80 if you wish. Some people even set it around 60hz..

The ISF should be the subsonic filter. Set it to 15Hz, 25Hz if you are running a ported box with tuning above ~35Hz. It keeps your subs from trying to reproduce frequencies lower than they are intended to play.

You set your LOW PASS FILTER on your 5.25's to 100 hz. So you rocking 20 hz through your mids bro?

origonal poster - can you snap a picture of your box holding your 12" subs ?

if it is a sealed box - you gota make shure its totaly sealed - take out the subs and re caulk the insides of it - let it dry and then re install.

if it is a ported box - it has to match the specs your subs want to play nicely. if the specs on the box are not right for the specs of the woofers they will never ever sound good. - on the same token - you can make a pretty junky sub like a sony xplode sound pretty darn good if you build it the right type of box... its all about the details and good install of the stuff.

also - what ohm load are you running to your amp. ?

do you have a digital multi meter ? its about 20$ for a cheap one - and it can realley help save the day when it comes to car audio.

you can use it to :

measure ohm load of individual voice coils of subs - to check and see if they are good / or going bad

measure the final ohm load to your amp with all the subs hooked up.

you can use it to set your gain on the amp to a more or less exact rms wattage amount you wish to feed your subs

and you can test for battery voltage and conectivity in wires / grounds . ext.... millions of uses for the thing...
