Guys, I'm not coming here with a "what's the best sub" thread. I've done a lot of searching and research and have narrowed down my selection. Here are my parameters: I have an Eclispse ea4000 amp which will run at 350 watts RMS @ 4 ohms (bridged). I want to power a 10" sub in an IB (free air) installation, mounting the sub on the rear deck. If I understand thing correctly, subs which can run free air tend to have high qts, higher xmax and preferably lower Fs. My budget is fairly meager, so subs like the ID MAX series are probably out. Anyway, I know that I need to run the sub at about 50% of stated RMS to not have excursion issues. The music I listen to is rock, folowed by more rock. No hip-hop, house, etc. I've listed five subs below that meet the cost criteria and have posted the relative specs for qts, xmax,Fs, and power handling. If anyone has experience with these models and their potential usefullness in an IB set up, I'd appreciate your feedback. If I've missed a brand that you think works best (bearing in mind my budget), I'd welcome that as well. Thanks. Eclipse SW 4000 Qts: 0.6 Fs: 38Hz xmax (one way) 12mm 250 rms/ 750 max Kicker C10 Qts: 0.516 Fs: 29.4 Hz xmax (one way): 9.76mm 150 rms/ 300 max Alpine R Qts:0.5 Fs: 31Hz xmax (one way): 18.1mm 500 RMS/ 1500 max Earthquake Tremor X Qts: 0.532 Fs: 33.7 Hz xmax (one way): 25mm 500 RMS/ 1000 max Boston Acoustic G1 Qts: 0.58 Fs: 30HZ xmax (one way): 10.5mm 200 rms ED 11k.v2 Qts: 28 Fs: 24.8 xmax (one way): 15.1 300 RMS/ 600 max The ED really confuses me, because it says it's designed for IB, but its Qts and xmax leave it at the low end, especially in the Qts catagory (0.5-0.7 recommended for IB). Any input would be greatly appreciated. Also, should I get a 4ohm DVC, or SVC; I'm not sure I understand how to effectively wire this set up. Thanks.
