OK, here it goes. I just bought a new Clarion dvd/cd/lcd model VRX925VD, and 2-12" subs, infinity 605cs component system for my front speakers, a RF amp for the subs, and an amp wiring kit.

Here are my questions.

What else will I need to install this stuff? I have an aftermarket CD player in already so I have a mounting kit and wiring harness.

How hard is it to install the Clarion head unit? I have installed CD players before.

Would I be better off having someone else install everything? I don't know anything about amps or the brain unit that is with the head unit.

Is anyone in the Minneapolis area that wants to make some money installing it for me?

thanks in advance for your help, it is very much appreciated.

sounds like you have everything you need.....except for a box for the subs. if oyu are going to do it yourself...you'll need time, patience, and...a friend that knows what he is doing. (unless you're willing to learn from your mistakes) -scott

I am going to go buy a box this week. That was last on my list.

If I were to do it myself, how long do you think it would take? 10hrs, 20hrs, ....?

What do you think it would cost to take it to an audio store and have them install it? I was thinking about $200-250.

thanks

It shouldnt take you too long, even then it doesnt matter because it is an enjoyable experience lol Dont pay to get it installed, learn from these boards and save yourself some money...besides, you will also be gaining knowledge...any questions ask them on the boards and someone will help you.

Here's a tip. Follow the instructions very close & don't take any short cut's. Like SS stated, ask and you shall receive. If your not sure post your question and someone will post an answer. If you cut corners you entire system will sound like it looks. I will be glad to help anyway I can. Just so you know I'm not jerking you leg, I have built 4 SQ national winners & 3 SPL national winners!

thank you very much everyone. I will install it myself starting Friday evening.

I think I have figured out all of the wiring, but I guess I'll see when I start.

A couple more quick questions:

How do I properly adjust my amp for my subs

I want to re-wire my factory wiring to my speakers. What is the easiest way?

Should I use 12 or 16 gauge to my door and rear deck speakers?

thanks

Ryan

well the easiest way w/out having the tools to do so would be after everything is installed....before turning the amp on.....adjust the gain and bass boost down to the lowest possible setting....turn your radio on to your normal listening level....then slowly turn the gain up untill you start to hear distoriton from the sub/s.....then back the gain down slightly....then adjust the bass boost to the amount that sounds good to you....your gain should then be set close to perfect for your listening level....good luck
