I hate my life :(

Well i just dumped my pioneer 8600 for $100 thinkin it had problems with the RCAs. I tried everyting to correct it but couldnt. The only thing that made the alt whine go away was when i put my friends sony cd player in. So i figured it had have been the RCAs on the cd player... Well today i got my pioneer avh-5700dvd in and guess what.. the noise is back //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Im out a solid $150 from selling the cd player so cheap

and

Have you tried using a relay to turn the radio on? You can use a relay to feed the deck battery power instead of noisy ign. power. I bet you a dollar to donuts that the noise is coming from your IGN wire to your deck. I can tell you how to wire it up if you wanna try it.

older pioneers have a known history of the infamous "ground loop".
try running an isolated ground wire from the headunit to the battery, or to chassis/frame?
Dkguitarist gave the same solution that I used. I had the same exact problem with my pioneer HU. I tried everything from changing RCA cables to changing the head unit itself. But nothing worked. I read about someone having the same problem, and it had to do with a ground loop problem. They said you can buy a Ground Loop Isolator, or just ground the actual RCA with some wire. I didnt have money to spend so I tried to ground it myself. And as soon as I did it, the whine went away. To this day the whine hasnt come back.

To ground the RCA: loop one side of a wire to a connected RCA imput wire. You kind of have to tie it around or stick it in between the male end of one and the female end of the other and then push them together. Once you have that connected, take the other side of the wire and ground it. You can either attatch or to the car frame itself, or you can attach it to the metal piece used to mount the head unit.

I hope this helps. let me know if it doesnt make sense and ill try to draw up a picture or something.

wow i feel like ripping everything out of my car right now too...

ive had the same problem in my car, today i went out and regrounded my headunit. STILL there. its coming from my tweeters, not my 6.5"s.

will grounding the RCA's fix this? or if i ground iso'd the headunit to the battery?

maybe its just pioneer units //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif
ima try my friends sony again today
Yup, Pioneer FTL.

Installed about $2500 worth of equipment in a guys truck about 3weeks ago here... he had the 5700 as well... and it had HARDCORE alternator whine.

I hardwired the radio, regrounded, grounded the RCA's to the amp grounds.... still had the whine...

Then I switched it out for a brand new 5700... and it went away...
