I have an alpine HU and type x 6.5 comps all around with an alpine 50wX4 amp. I am thinking I am not getting the full potential out of the X's and I think an eq. will help the sound. What kind of EQ. should I get? Does alpine make one? If not, who does for the best price? I am new to the EQ concept but I know that you can fine tune things very well with one. Thanks for the help.

My head unit is a cda-9825. I do belive it is one of last years models. It has AI-net but I am using a CD changer. That is why I am wondering if I can use an alpine. Let me know.

What should I look at in an EQ? I am asuming bands are the freq. that you can actualy adjust on the EQ, right? I would like to get an in dash model that has 6 bands and is about 150 bucks or less. Help is very apreciated.

I would say lose the changer and get the h701. I myself are running the Audio Control DQSX and love it. The rockford 360.2 is pretty nice too. But as stated before be careful for you may add noise to your system.

ah, ya. I just looked up the alpine PXA-H701 and I dont want to/cant spend 400 bucks on an EQ right now. The Eclipse 21010 is a stong canidate at the moment. How is that EQ? I do belive it is an in dash unit witch is good for my application. Will it add noise?

i just got the alpine pxa-h510, and it has plenty of control. I have it hooked up to my 9857 via ai-net, but the processor has a 'changer in' ai-net connection, so you want lose that. the thing I like about it most is the fact that the volume is still controlled with the HU, not the processor. As of now, I only change the sub level with it, as I havn't got around to playing with ti much, but it is a nice, solid processor. Heres the specs if you interested:

The cool thing about Alpine and their AiNet stuff is that you can loop them together. Most have an in and an out. The changers don't, so you'd have to put it last in the loop. All of the stuff I've bought came with several examples and diagrams to help you connect everything. Point is, you won't have to lose your changer to add the 701. Great piece, and worth the skrilla if you can come up with it.
