We just received this letter from our company CEO.... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Dear Colleagues: I am proud to announce that during the matching donation program, approximately 7,700 employees gave $1.35 million to the Red Cross Katrina Relief Fund. With the double match, that means a total contribution of more than $4 million to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina. When I announced the matching program, I received dozens of e-mails from employees – some of whom were directly impacted by Katrina. One of our colleagues, who was evacuated from New Orleans, wrote: “I am speechless and truly humbled by the support all of my colleagues have shown.” Many others wrote about family, friends or clients who were Katrina’s victims. For example, another colleague said: “I just want to express my profound gratitude for 'double-matching’ of Hurricane Katrina relief donations. As a Gulf Coast native, and with nearly all of my family and friends still there, I can tell you that needs are deep and probably beyond human comprehension. . . . My heartfelt thanks go to every employee who gives to relieve the monumental suffering caused by this storm.” I want to add my own heartfelt thanks to all of you who gave so generously to this cause. Your donations make a world of difference for a lot of people. Best regards,
