Well, i just got my power back today after 2 days without power and im here to say that wow, this hurricane tore everything in its way, every tree in my street is now gone, i mean huge 50-80ft tall tress and thick too.. my room window broke and my room got wet so that sucks right there and the streets are all flooded and theirs trees down everywere and my neightbors car got smashed to the ground by a HUGE tree that fell on top of it, and about 50 tiles from my roof flew and broke like 5-10 peoples windshields. Thursday night all i hear was wind gusts outside my house and my window rattling and car alarms going off and trees breaking, this is my 1st hurricane experience and it isnt a good one.

Trees meeting cars generally doesn't turn out so well...somewhere around here I've got the photos of what happened to my parents' Volvo S70 after it lost a fight with an oak tree...what happens when an F1 tornado decides to drop in on your backyard.

Did you have any battery backups? If you live in a hurricane-prone area, having a 30-40 amp hour battery backup that's solar charged or a small generator can be a lifesaver. That way, you have lights. Maybe a small VHF/UHF scanner, too...so you can listen to the local police/fire frequencies in addition to the commercial FM broadcasts.

No generators, they were going at around $1,000 at the time we needed one, the 6450w ones, the biggest they had, we jusyt waited out. Let me get some pics up.

Bingo.

You live in FL, it pays to be prepared before the season starts //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Buy your survival stuff in January or something, when nobody cares about hurricanes...

They've said that the majority of the people leaving New Orleans were able to make it out of harms way. There are some still out on the road, but hopefully they will be OK. They took all of our gas on their way through too lol.
