HU memory wire

I installed a HU on my neighbors trail blazer and for some reason the memery wire(red) does not work I installed it with with both wires(red, yellow) from the HU into the yellow from the harness. but obviously that's not holding the memory. my neighbor told me that his truck has a stocked amp and that might be the problem, it also might explain why I can't get nothing out of all the harness speaker leads. Is their any other way to get the memory wire from anywhere else. Thanks for the help

find a constant source of 12v, even with the key off. i've ran straight to the battery before, but there should be some kind of constant 12 volt somewhere. did you use a meter to find the power wire?

The memory (12V constant) wire is yellow, not red.

The red is 12V switched.

so that could be done I could run the wire staight to the batt. one thing I notised is that the harness the red wire does not come out through the back

yah that what I thought but when I take the keys of the stereo stays on can I ran the other one straight to the batt(red wire) cause the red wire from the harness has nothing comming from behind it

The trailblazer has a class II data system. what harness did you use? if it was just a plain one with no chimes you need to run your own 12v switched. tap into the ignition cylinder or fusebox.

ok so I need to run a wire to the ignition fuse to the HU. in lame terms pull the fuse out put a wire in it and from their to the HU.

ok that worked( thanks a lot) one more thing is that since this car has a built in amp how do I bypass the amp or should I just run the speaker leads straight to the door. thanks again
