HU installation - '99 Montero Sport Limited

Just bought this truck.

I've got two problems -

One, my power antenna doesn't work at all. I even ran a wire straight from the battery and shorted it to the antenna terminal at the wiring harness - got nothing. If it was a fuse I would think there would be other electrical problems, but everything else works.

The other issue - installing the HU. There is one standard plastic wiring connection, but it only houses 5 wires: consant, switched, pwr antenna, dimmer and illumination. Everything else connects through two barrell type connectors. Metra only offers a kit that connects to the 5-wire plug, and another adapter to get signal to a factory amp - which I can't even find.

Any info would help.

If I could just make the antenna work I'd be ok for now. It looks to me like the motor might be shot, and if that's the case - getting it out could be a REAL pain. Anyone happen to have done that on a mitsubishi?

dude the power antennas on those cars go ALL the time, i have done 3 this month on customers cars that come into my shop. go to the dealership and get a new MAST for the antenna and you will be good to go. you wont need to get a new antenna!

I know it's usually just the mast, or even the cable IN the mast, but in my case the motor doesn't RUN. Even if the mast and cable are both completely broken I should be able to hear the motor run.
