How to use Western Union

Ok so I am dealing with a man on craigslist. He had his assistant mail me a check, and the assistant screwed up and sent me 1850$ instead of 225$... they confused the payments for 2 different orders he had.... So I cut a deal with him and am selling him more junk for lower price and the total comes to 800$....He wants me to subtract my 800$ from the 1850$ and send the remainder back to him via Western Union. I do not know how to use WU, can someone please enlighten me?

Is there a way he can scam me with this?

He isn't picking up the items until after I cash the check too....

The check is more then likely bad or stolen. On top of that, WU charges you per $100 or something like that to send money so you will be out there. I would just send it back and not worry about it myself.

if I wait until the check is fully processed by my bank will I be safe? they will tell me if it is legit or fake?
