Message: <blockquote data-quote="ObiWonPimpNobi" data-source="post: 1181006" data-attributes="member: 563706"><p>To see if the coil is free and working, just touch the speaker leads to each post of a small 9v battery.  It will push out and hold the cone in place untill you let it go.  Will not damage the speaker or burn the house down.  If you flip the wires it will pull in the cone as well so you can check full travel.  It also helps to check for phase on already install speakers when you reconnect wires that may have been installed incorrect.  This is an old trick from live PA systems years ago to get arrays in phase easily.</p></blockquote><p></p>
