Hello,

I have an Alpine 9815 and the lights are way to bright. I have hooked up the dimmer and set it to minimum and it is still way to bright. I plan to take the face apart and paint the inside of the blue buttons black, to decrease the brightness.

I have been searching on various car audio forums on how to take the face apart, but have not found an answer. I tried to do it, and i removed the 3 screws on the back, but it would not come apart, it felt like there is a clip or something holding it in place, and i dont want to break it.

Whats the trick to taking the face off?

Thanks heaps for your advice, it is much appreciated.

it's the rotary encoder that prevents you from opening it...

you will have to find a way to remove the rotady dial or you won't be able to open it

now to ask you: do you really need to this? do you realize you can screw up the faceplate completely?
