Ok.. ONCE AGAIN (4th time), my L7 has snapped another tinsel lead over the past year. The first time I sent it back for warranty... Second and third times I got the best installer in my hometown to solder them back for me.. And the ones he soldered have all held.. But now hes 1 1/2 hours away and i hate just going back to him every few months with the same problem...

I have watched him do it, and it looks fairly easy.. I would just some instruction from yall. .Also, will Wal-Marts $5 solder tool be fine to use?? I have no experience whatsoever..

Any input will be appreciated..

Easiest way is to just melt the solder onto the tip of the iron, and then put it where it needs to go.

Then hold the iron on the spot, the "tinned" iron will heat the wire up much faster than an untinned iron, and then apply a little extra solder to the wire directly.

It's really not hard. Practice with a couple pieces of wire first.

I actually taught myself from older walkthroughs, so do a search.

Very Easy. I use a walmart solder iron. Make sure you cover the tip of iron with solder. Do not try to feed solder over the sub. Big chance it will drip and possibly melt something. Apply as much as you think it needs and then put more lol. You will need plenty on there. I can show you some pics if you like. Soldering is nothing more than drawing or painting. Got to know how to keep it clean but efficeint!! Good Luck!!

Lay some aluminum foil under where you are soldering....Just it case it does drop it will dry so quick on foil it will not hurt anything. Post some pics of what you are soldering....Maybe a easier method....Not sure if a jumper would be better to connect the leads back together....Or if it would effect sound...But i would be easier..

I aint currently got anything to take pictures.. Ruined my cellphone by dropping it in Coke.. Digital camera and camcorder are at my parents house...

Thanks for the tips.. hope i dont fk it up.

Well I soldered her up today and shes banging again.. Took me forever.. I put aluminum foil under where I was soldering so I wouldnt burn through the cone.. Soldering job don't look near as good as the guy who did it before, but its holding for now...

I agree, soldering is an art!
