How to get Power Supply To The Back of The Car

I've Got a Hyundai Exel (1991) And I wish to wire my amp. But how can i get the power leads from the batt to the rear boot of the car?

I'm new at cars in general and car audio but, as far as I know:

- You hook a [short] wire to the positive lead of the battery

- Put a fuse on the wire

- On other end of fuse, this is the main power wire that will go to the trunk so it has to be pretty long [but you don't want too much in excess]

- You have to get through the firewall [really don't know what it is] - you may have to drill a hole

- Then you run the wire under the carpet the opposite side of the speaker+rca cables and into the trunk - there may be some sharp metal in between

Like I said, I'm new and've never installed anything - only stuff I know is just through reading but it might get you started.

that is a very good description. all you have to do is find some way to get the power wire to the amp and make sure the fuse is close to the battery.

"finding some way" is sometimes the hardest part.

There should be a few rubber "bungs" on the firewall. These usually carry the wires from engine bay to cabin. There should also be a somewhat large rubber grommet in the center (that's what I use), pierce that, and pass the cable through.

You can put a hole in it and pass the cable through that, or if need be, make a new hole. Be advised, don't put the cable directly on the metal, as will be prone to getting it cut. Silicone or rubber insert for fresh drilled holes are available.

i just took a drill drilled a hole shoved the wire through and put a little piece of foam around the wire and that was it. i looked for a existing hole and it wasn't there so i justed got out my drill and drilled away

How Much Must The Fuse Be As AMPs ? \

The AMP rating for your fuse will depend on your amplifers power draw. check out what size fuse is on your amplifer and maybe pick a few amps higher than that to use for your battery fuse rating.
