I'm not an anti drug person but I will give my views on regulation. I feel that the current regulation creates the perfect storm for marijuana. It keeps chains like walmart from selling it. Because of this, we have street pharmacists that take a big risk and make a large tax-free profit. We also have stable prices that are not subject to economic fluxuation. I think if marijuana were legalized, it could not be exactly the same as alcohol due to its medicinal purposes. It would HAVE to be regulated by the fda and would probably be prescription only which is not really any different from now. Let's face it. The tax money would be great and if smokers weren't subject to prosecution it would be great, but there are lots of unintended consequences. It's not like it would just stay the same but people could get high in peace.
