how sexy are the new L7's :)

06 L7's are very different over the 05's, and look even better...CVX's will be amazing as well....
being an owner of 2 '05 L7's how do the new ones compare? What is different besides the cosmetic changes? Just incase I have two 12 inch dual 4 ohm version. Also, i noticed they do not have a 1-ohm stable amp anymore?

I own the 05 model l7s, and the new ones just dont look impressive enough for me to switch over. I never liked the looks of squares, but I just thought that i would give them a try. They were okay, but now Im selling mine. Off to bigger and better things //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

dam, i thought they were gonna ditch the square ***'
why take away from a design that offers more cone area??? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

the new L7's have new upgrades, new injection molded cone vs, vacuum formed, new bigger coils, new woven TL's in the new spiders, and added about 3-4 lbs per driver to mass. So pretty much all new...

the older 05 L5's are now beefed up like the L7 for 06...

Xmax is not valuable readings, as the L7 has a t-cut top plate, so Xmax numbers are skewd...with a t-cut top plate you have more motor to keep more coil cooler. So while the Xmax may read small, it really isn't //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

that's why they are so loud...people may think the numbers, Xmax is small, when it really isn't.

Ugly beacuse they are a Kicker?...highly intelligent remark //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

I must say I like the new ones considerably more, than last years model. I like the black cones over the silver. But I also like basic looking woofers!!! I wish the L5 had a black cone Ive been wanting to put a 15 L5 in my car for a while. I think it would match my 700.5 nicely!

Edumacate me here.... what? lol This is the first Ive heard of Kicker saying the L series has more true excursion capability than the xmax numbers imply. And this isn't even the first time you and I have had this discussion about the L's lackluster excursion figures. Can you elaborate on how this is possible please? Is this something new for this year or what? Thanks.

(still waiting on that new round 'audioholic' series lol)

the L series have a t-cut top plate. Where a conventional sub will have a flat top plate, that's where the Xmax figures are determined. On ours, we have a T cut, in the gap, you now have more coil, in the gap, with more cooling area. But now look at the actual coil, on top of the top plate seems less, but now if we took away that extra addition on the colling area, you have more coil on top of the top plate.

I have pics I can show, let me see if I can find them on a conventional sub vs L series.
