How much voltage should go through my remote wire while my car is on?

I checked the voltage running through my remote wire and I got 14.4v. The same as running through my power wire. Is that right? If not, why is this so and how can I fix it.

it should be 14.4V, but at a very low amperage...

if you are worried, attach a .5A fuse or something to your remote..
