How much into play does cone area effect?

4 15" subs at 1600 rms... vs. 1 12" sub at 2500 rms....

Obviously this is one of those questions... "What will get louder" but its not fully....

I just am wondering if cone area will play a big part in this.

Both sets of subs would get there full RMS and be in there recomended box's.... and just imagine that everything was done perfect.

Because you'd be running up against power compression with the single driver, mostly likely...and not even taking that into account, the total swept area of the four drivers compared to a single one is not even close. Move more air; you get louder.

i would most definitely go with the 4 15" at 1600wrms, cone area is the deciding factor on my decision.

in real life there would be actual parameters that would be taken in to account.

on paper the 15's look good, not always the same on the mic.

i can definatly tell you it will sound louder to the ear... but that doesn't mean they will automatically be louder on the mic //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

hmm.... this is interesting.

Glad to hear that about the cone area.... now its just time for the box //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
