i'm a michigander as as soon as it gets hot i have the ac cranked and i notice no difference whatsoever. it seems i get worse gas milage in the middle of winter

Colder air is denser and the more air you have coming in more gas you need the equal out the fuel/air ratio. Your car prolly has an air intake temperature sensor, if it is mid 80's or newer which does exactly what it states and adjust fuel accordingly, also working with the o2 sensors at the same time to see how much fuel is burnt.

So winter time yes you use more gas.

go watch the mythbusters rerun.... i dont believe ac takes that much i would be shocked at even $2 per fill up.... and to the person who said you save money with windows upand ac on... your wrong you should also go watch the mythbusters show on ac vs. gas

This has got to take you back to the days with the family on vacation. Dad says, "Turn the A/C off! It wastes gas!" And Mom says, "We can't roll the windows down or everyone on the highway will think we can't afford A/C." And you're in the back roasting, hoping someone will win the argument so you can cool off.

Using a higher octane fuel during the hot summer months also helps with MPG to a small degree, enough to offset the AC cost.

he may have a small point. windows down causes alot of drag on your vehicle messing up aero dynamics. it may burn more gas with the windows down than ac on and windows up. that's a moot point travelling at 25 miles per hour though.

depends on where your at in SD. Go inland more towards Ramona and it gets **** hot.

i live in mira mesa so i guess it aint that bad..but santee is horrible

Seriousely man san diego's weather is so perfect i just moved to utah and its ****ing hot here. A lot hotter than diego. It actually gets a little cold downtown at the padres games

thats y i like winter here...its like 68 degrees and every thinks its cold but its perfect..and summer nights u can still wear shorts and a wifebeater..but the padre games are cold cause the bay is right there....but on another not when i turn my ac on my civic slows down a lil bit..guess its the way honda made the old civics

Two year ago I moved to Las Vegas (for like 10 months ended up broke moved back to memphis) but anyway first day I got in town my ac broke. It was around July 1st right after my b-day so yes it was hot. We had likt 15 days of 114+ degree heat. I though I was gonna die, but at least no humidity there like back home.
