Yeah, even up here we've taken a bit of a hit. They rolled back a $1.50 raise we were supposed to get as well as getting rid of 7% retention, almost $4 gone.
I'm not in Cleveland, I'm in one of the Cleveland Suburbs. 70K is my base salary, plus my schooling bonus (4% for college education), plus my longevity (15 yrs of service),plus what little bit of overtime that they allow us to have. I'm not a Detective...I was asked if I wanted the bureau, but I declined. I like working the road. I'm a Motor Officer (Motorcycle). Cleveland Police officers are almost even with us on base pay though.
Cochese, you really don't know anything then, do you? How nice and so very noble of you to think that because I'm a police officer that I must "shake people down". It's people like you that cause police officers to have an "us versus them" attitude. NE Ohio police salaries were starting in the mid 30's...15 years ago. I guess it's easy to make blatantly ignorant and stereotypical comments when you're hiding behind a keyboard. Nobody thinks about the fact that we don't always get paid for what we do, a big part of our salary is for what we MIGHT HAVE TO DO. We can earn our whole year's pay in a single day (not a very good day for us!). I'm sure if you watch a little more television, you'll have a better picture of what a police officer's job/life is like.

LOL.... im not even in the high rankings... I just work for my families oilfield company... they give me a part time job so i can go to school...
