Long story short. Moved out, got canned in 08 after 2 years on my own, moved back home, went to hosp, big debt, got a job after a lonnngggg wait and have been employeed for 1.5 years.. I've been saving and feel like I have a good foundation again to gtf outa here.

So, what did yall save up before ridin' out?

Good rule of thumb on this is, First months rent, deposit, and 6 months rent in savings, then double the 6 months worth of rent for expenses. If anything happens you have a bout 8 months worth of money to keep your head out of water and time to find another job. or whatever

I moved out at 16. I had a good job and just felt it was time. Worked out fine for me, but not for everyone I'm sure. I didn't really save up to move out, I have always been pretty good with finances so I had a few bucks in the bank.

This is a great advice. Don't base your ability to pay any bills on money you "think" you will be getting. Things tend to happen and cause issues if that is how you base things.

i bought some things for my h ouse like a living room set and the main stuff i needed. then i had to save up 2600 for m deposit. so i just tried to prepare, and got some help from my mom and made it happen

It's ok, just as long as your of a colored nature.
