How Loud?

You hear people every day saying their system bumps/kicks/thuds loud and hard. and I have been in many different cars and trucks with weak systems and ones that are decent and my main question is:

How loud do most stock systems get?

How loud do most systems >1000w get? 1000-4000w?

if i am correct ~70 db is "normal", 90-110 is loud and 140-150 is going to do damage.

and is there any cheap way to know how loud your system can go without spending 90-200$

There's no telling what 'X' system will do until its on the meter, but most people you see everyday talking about how 'loud' they are usually arent loud at all..

Thats what I said. Most people tooting their horns are probably high 130s, low 140s.

Sound Pressure Levels, Volume or Loud is a very strange element

You can hear a system that really Pounds, it may hurt your ears, feel it pushing on you chest But do a low db

Another hi SPL system may not really sound all that loud

The particular Frequencies effects your senses in different ways

The spl or db scale has changed many times in the last few years with the scale, weighting and type of meters being used (TermLab, Audio Control, Audio Tool box and B&K)
