How Loud Can Kickers Get?

I just recently got a dual Kicker enclosure with two 12" Kicker CompVR's. I am using a Kenwood Amp that gives about 550Watts RMS to the enclosure (This amp was recommended to me by the people at http://www.crutchfield.com, they said this amp would power the subs without a problem). This Power rating on the amp seems too low to be able to power those subs, but anyways how loud do you think i could get the subs without burning up the amp?

THAT's whats wrong with them... and giving stupid advice to customers. their customer service is admittedly very good, if you get a defective item or something.
For good advice...go to a Car Audio Shop...and talk to some people...!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/*******.gif.a649d21efc0d1fd4890a6428166586c1.gif

Nothing is wrong with Crutchfield...they are just overpriced on their items.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fro.gif.c695f1f814b01c4ad99fe7f8cccadd29.gif
No more so than any other car audio reseller in existence that charges retail price for the items they're selling.

When you factor in all the gear they send you free of charge when you make a mobile A/V gear purchase of $130 or more it makes that retail pricing considerably easier to swallow. Add to that the fact that they have likely THE best returns policy of anyone on the web it gets even better. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

To jphipps~

Sadly I think whatever sales rep you spoke with at Crutchfield is a bit misinformed. While giving those subs 550w will make them work they really want 800w+ (for the pair) to perform at their best.

Will what you've got work?

Yep. And likely sound more than decent.

Is it enough to make them wang their hardest?

Unfortunately not. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Set the gain appropriately and don't ask more of that amp than it can provide and you won't be in any danger of burning it up. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif
