how long to drug tests and background checks take?

I recently got hired at knott's soak city for a life guard postion.

I did my drug test last saturday. They said they would start my background check sunday. I tried calling them back a few days ago about it, and they said they cant legally tell me whether or not the recieved it for some bullshit.

Its almost been a week and they havnt called me back. I know my drug test came out clean and I have nothing on my record. So whats taking them so long?

I called them three days after they said they would do it. They told me they couldnt legally tell me of the results. They said they would call me back.

Hmmm.

Its just a weird feeling. I got hired for a job. But I still feel unemployed cause nothing is moving forward. All I know is I have life guard training in a week and a half.

Dude...It is a conspiracy.The nurse that took your sample has probably sent it out with her junkie boyfriend that is trying to get a job and he needed clean pee. Maybe there are 13 mexicans using your Social Security number...and they do not know what to think.

LOL.Anyways...One place that I worked had to have the sample sent to another state,and it took 3-4 days to find out.As for the other part.it is very expensive and takes a few (2-3) weeks to get back.I went through it for my current job.

Lol. Depends on what they're doing. Background checks for nice apartments take 1-3 days because they're looking at your police record, credit history, and reference at last dwelling. Background checks for non security sensitive jobs take 1-2 weeks. Background checks done for a clearance takes 6 weeks - 1 year depending on the person and the clearance.

My company I currently work for is switching to a new company......which I am going for and it took 1 week for my backround check.

Sucks as I am the site supervisor and they told me I have the job, but my backround check failed because of my poor credit I had in 2002 and a couple misdeameanors(Fawking loud music in 98......can't believe that shit is still on my record!) and only have had 3 jobs since then with no problems getting in..........and one is the same type of job.
