How import is the golden ratio for box building?

I am building a sealed box for a pair of IDMAX 12's. Gross volume will be 1.42cf per sub, with each sub sealed from the other. The golden rule ratio should be 1 x 0.7937 x 1.2599.

Based on my trunk internals the best I can do is come up with a ratio of 1 x 0.87 x 1.15

Will my ratio, which is closer to a cube cause problems or should I not worry about it? The exact internal dimension per sub will be 13.5" x 11.75" x 15.5"

Thanks for the input.

ok, i guess i'm mistaken. i really don't have much knowledge on the subject so don't listen to my advice (seriously)

i thought the golden rule was more for home audio, bookshelf like speakers, and not subs, but i'm probably wrong.

The golden rule matters for woofers. Not sub woofers. The purpose behind the golden rule is to minimize standing waves within the enclosure that will color the sound. The only freqs where you have to worry about this are in the midrange and above. As long as you are running a crossover on the sub, it isn't even a consideration.
