whenever i have my system running my two amps tend to get pretty warm... the heat isnt too extreme as to where it hurts my hand to touch them but they are pretty **** warm.... should i be worried by this or is it normal... amps are 500/1 and 300/4

I have an old M25 and when i play rock music with fast beats it will overheat and turn off, it actually has a copper heatsink to distribute heat, lol. and it burns! So im pretty sure yours can take the beating. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

most fans don't even kick on til above 150degrees i believe so you'll prolly fine
they def wernt 150 so im thinking ill be cool... just wanted to make sure though... anyone know what is the max heat most amps can handle?

80celcius is probably the danger zone. Hot enough for spit to sizzle. My amps regularly get hot enough to be painful to the touch (instant pain) but not quite to spit sizzles heat. They cut off before spit sizzles on the case which i think would mean they are around 80c internally. My IR temp sensor read 145f or so on the case which is about 60-65c.

alright i think i dont have to worry... its my first system so i didnt know if it was normal to have ur amps heating up.. glad to know it happens to everyone though.. mine still havent gottin so hot it hurts to touch them but im sure all in time... thanks for the advice/help guys

you spit on your amps?

well better than licking it or impaling it with a meat thermo //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/banghead.gif.8606515f668c74f6de0281deb475b6fd.gif

you spit on your amps?
I lick my finger wetly and then touch it...if i hear a sizzle...spit sizzles. You could, if you were really paranoid, use a glass of water to wet the tip of your finger...but i think that's being a little over protective of a piece of equipment. It can handle some saliva, trust me. They are rugged, i tell you. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif It's a good way to judge approximate temperature once you get above 'it hurts to touch' territory if you dont happen to have an IR therm around
