**How do you STOP the Retarded ROOF RATTLE?***

Hi,

I have an SUV. Whenever the system is at high volume (not even full tilt) , the roof is hopping majorly around 2 inches and produces a loud ridiculous roof rattle. I already have a layer of sound deadner throughout the whole roof and it barely helped.

Any suggestions on the easiest way to resolve this?

screw MDF or something very rigid into the roof, layers of deadner inbetween.

You can't screw MDF sheeting to the roof, you must glue. LOL. Unless you want screws popping out of the roof... Also no need for layers of deadener, it wouldn't make a difference. You are betting on the rigidity of the MDF here only.

I would tack/spot weld strips of metal across the width of the roof then use some good sound dampening.

Loctite and MDF is a very good combo for stopping both roof flex and rattle. Ideally you should get a layer of deadener down first then put some bracing attached to that
