This. It also depends on the quality of the meat, as in how well its marbled. I like rare, but many times medium rare is a bit better because it coooks more of the fat into the meat to improve flavor.Depends on the cut...
I dont think of prime rib as a 'steak', maybe that's just me. I also think if prime rib is not rare, its cooked wrong. Prime rib that's well done can turn an extremely tender cut of meat into shoe leather.
