hey, i had my system set up by professionals so im not sure how all the wirng etc makes an amp run at certain power.

heres my situation

i have a PPI powerclass 275 amp which i believe was bridged to mono to run my single 12w0-4ohm jl audio sub.

well the sub had wear and tear and i have now purchased a 12w3v3-4ohm at the advice of the jl tech people.

i was told that my amp probly is pushing 300wats and my previous sub max was 150, so the w3 is a beetter choice cuz it can run rms at 300w.

here is a pic of the settins of my amp,

is this correct set up to get 300w at 4 ohms

i reseached that this amp runs 2 by 75 wats at 4ohm

2 by 150 at 2ohm or 300 by 1 at 4ohm, but i dont know what wiring makes it do one verse othr

please advise

We would need to know where the wires are going that are in the speaker inputs... The black and blue wires. You can check how the sub is wired using a DMM (Digital Multi-Meter) to check the resistance on the speaker terminals on the outside of the box.

lets see when i unplugged it, the black wires on the right side of the pic has a plus and minus , those were hooked up to the terminals of the box.

the purple on left goto the back of headunit as rcas , the blue wires, hmm im not sure, i guess they goto the powr supply ( battery? )

i dont have a ddm , is ther eany other way

thanks

i guess that would explain why my 12w0 had tears in foam huh.

whats a good adjustment, ??

what is gain? how should it be set?

also, in regards to the blue wires, i noticed one goes into the other amp, a eclipse pa5422 50 by 4 amp used to run my speakers in the car

the other blue wire follows everything else i guess to the front of the car,

here is another pic
