How do I Do This

Here is my issue...I have a new, never used Punch P8002 amp and I want to hook up a single JL 12 W6 V2 sub to the amp. I want to bridge the amp so I can get maximum thump out of the sub but I have had several shops tell me that I will screw up the amp because the dual voice coil sub is designed to operate at 2 ohms and the amp in the bridged mode is designed to operate at 4 ohms. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Oh yeah the reason I am going with one sub is because I am putting this in a 2006 scion XB and I have very little room

The way Iv'e been told, is the speaker kinda dictates to the amp to a degree. Ohms is resistance. Imagine squeezing down on a drinkiing straw untill nothing comes out. The higher the ohms, the more your restricting the pathway for that liquid to travel. Same way for electricity. The amp is rated to tolerate a 4 ohm bridged load (Safe and capable handling). If you put 2 ohm sub on 4 ohm amp, you force the amp to put out more than safely rated.

Get 2 subs that do not require much air space. You'd def be safe then!

ok so I need to bridge this thing so that it runs at an 8 ohm load...how do I do that? I have the amp bridged according to the directions but what do I need to do to the sub? I am only running one sub because 1. I got the sub and the amp both brand new for under $300 and don't have the money to get another 12 w6 v2 and 2. I just don't have the room in the back of my scion for two subs right now. I have done a single sub before but never on a 2 channel amp, that is why I am running into problems

connect the voice coils in a series configuration (connect one of the postive terminals to one of the negative terminals) and connect the two remaining terminals to the amp accordingly. test it with a multimeter to assure you're at 8 ohms.

what'd i'd really suggest is ebaying this sub and getting one that's dual 4-ohm so you can run it at 2 ohms...

OR ebaying the amp and get one designed to play down to 2 ohms.
