i remember when i was 16, i started listenin to rap and hip hop and likin the beats compared to rock music and this day was the start of it all...fall of September 1999 i would be walkin home from school and i'd hear this sound in the background and i thought oh that's just a loud truck exhaust then i saw this car pass me and it had the words KICKER on the windsheild and was playin those rollin bass lines and i'm like daaaaaaamm that sounds sweet, i want my car stereo to sound like that then and i'm wantin to get my license soon as well and whatdoya know i get a car the next day handed down from my parents, a 1984 Ford Tempo, i know a pile of shit basically and i have a plan and i thought hmm maybe i'll look this KICKER name up tomorrow at school durin study hall and see what that is, so i use the money from my summer job that year which was detasseling corn and would go buy the cheapest stuff i could find which was a LA 150.1 amp, a 12" pioneer sub and a wiring kit, and a box for the sub and my goal was to hook up a system in my car, i was impressed, it was loud to me back then, then i would move up to better and bigger brands of amps and subs then speakers and so on, so it's been kind of you start from the bottom and end up gettin better stuff, then after that i was hooked on bass and the sound, i figured once i hit my adulthood years i'd grow out of it but it's stuck with me since, i'm 23 now and focus on sql now more then spl. funny how i can remember how loud the bass was in my mind and how stupid and careless i was just sittin in my driveway gettin a fix of bass from lil jon and havin my neighbors tell me to turn it down, i felt a sense of pride and accomplishment for once in my life.

One of my friends got a system, 2 w3's and some mb quart speakers. I got in and said "hey they dont sound like shit and distort like the shit that my car came with". Just kinda built up from there.

I don't even remember, lol! Too long ago for me. I think it was when I bought my first car which was a POS 1983 Dodge Charger which I paid 250 bucks for. I had a buddy with a Jeep Wrangler ( I know an ultimate SPL beater, lol!) and he pretty much got me hooked. He had some old school MTX Terminators lying around and said I betcha those would slam in that hatch. So he let me borrow them as I had an old school MTX amp lying around myself, so it was like it was ment to be. Was only like 600 watts, but it slammed for sure, least back then, lol! So spent like 120 bucks on a highs amp, which was like a rockford, lol! Then got me some Pioneer 5"ers and a couple 6x9's in their own enclosure, lol! I was set! Oh can't forget the Sanyo tape player, ahah!

i worked at sears and we had an xplod 700 watt (150 rms ha ha) amp and xplod subs and HU on clearance so i bought it all for like 200 bucks when i was 17...was hooked from there......for a minute, a minute i thought those xplod 10's in a walmart prefab box sounded pretty good......

when i replaced them with some better stuff i took the subs and amp back to sears, said they were broken(bought the replacement warranty) and they gave me a new amp and subs.....still have those 2 subs and amp bnib up in the attic lol

Prolly sometime next month i'll stop on over if the weather is decent. might be good for me to travel around Iowa lol, i'm still really bummed on why the car audio shop in the city next to me moved and quit after it has been there for 20 +years! it was my hookup place for audio, what i need is a box, i'm stuck with a POS best buy sealed/ported one atm

was that Dodge Charger a rust bucket for that price? lol, a friend of mine had a POS 89 mercury cougar and i told him to paint it army colors since it had primer on it and he never did, he also had a POS Phoenix like a pinto kinda and he'd have 2 8's in a lil enclosure in his backseat and we'd drive around bumpin Dre Dre 2001 cd, i think he had that shit powered by his Roadmaster tape deck, pounded though lmao!

detasseling haha that was my first job... is it just because we are from iowa??? who did you work for, i worked for pioneer
i worked for Golden Harvest Research, i got sunburnt like a mofo doin that job, was my first job also, hated parkin my car near the building next to all the goody goody chick's cars, i felt embarassed for drivin that POS ford tempo to work every morning.

we went to the industrial parking lot at like 5 am got picked up from a bus (but at least you were able to drive) that was the only job i could get at 14... but yea it sucked i got sun burnt and also cut like a SOB from the corn leaves, better believe i wore long sleeves the second day; we earned 6.25 i think... what a ****in rip off

we didn't even use a bus we had to walk the dam fields even work in the rain sometimes, the place was only 4 miles north of me, i prolly walked a good 3 miles each day, was like walkin in mud when it rained...and the bees and pollen gettin in ur eyes hurt like a SOB, and gettin cut by corn leaves, i earned 8 an hour, whole season lasted only 2 weeks, pay was $8.00 with a bonus with overtime.

no the bus took us like 40 miles to the fields and they were like 1-2 miles long each but we had a 70 person crew so in a 500 row field you could imagine how far i walked every day threw the fields, it was retarded though because our supervisors would walk behind us and pick up tassels off the ground and say we missed them and shit but yea at the end of the 4 week season we got a $400 bonus, it also kind of sucks because that is the only prior job reference besides the gay oatmeal factory job i have now making 8.25

we had 2 supervisors, both were cool, and a 30 person crew, the fields we did were about 1-2 miles long as well, i also did pollinating corn where you take a brown paper bag and put it over the tassel of the cornplants and tie it up then you'd have to put another little bag over the ear of corn with the silk, imagin doin a whole field of just that, it was very time consuming and made the days go by quick though.
