When i the selector from the 1-8V to the 0-1V position, the subs got WAY louder? Its the alpine pdx-1.1000, I was just messing with the settings, lowered the gains since I was getting slight distortion at high volumes. But yea, why did they get louder when I selected the 0-1V setting?

that sets the range for your gains...going from the 1-8v to the 0-1v setting is just like cranking the gain on the amp from where it was.

Oh ok I get it. I just put it back to the 1-8V and lowered my gains.
