how can i test a HU?

i am picking up a crappy in dash local but wanna make sure it works, how can i test it before i take it home without pulling out my HU?

you'll have to pull yours out and hook it up to test it.

make sure you check all the channels for noise.

or tell him to hook it up to his car.

to test it for power, hook the power wires (red and yellow) to the positive and the black ground wire to the negative. You can test to make sure it ejects and all of that by doing that.

nice thx that is what i need to know, dont think i will put it in my car but maybe set something up for my garage.

take your multimeter, a cd, and 2 wires about 1 ft long. connect the deck's red and yellow wire together and to the pos terminal on your car battery and the black to the negative terminal using the foot long wires. once the deck turns on, put the cd in... use your meter to measure ac voltage on the speaker wires.
