I've always just preferred a $10 rc car and laser to annoy my cats. I think actually shooting them with something may somehow...make the cat never forgive you.

there RC helicopters look pretty cool, pretty cheap too, looks like you can get a pretty decent one for 80-150 and they have videos so you can see how it actually flys
