Hk4000d

:fyi:most freightliner truck have no bigger than a 100 amp alt:fyi:

the hk4000d needs ALOT of current, i will pound with a big alt and one big batt...but it needs ALOT more than 1 bat, if money wasn't an issue i would go with a a 300 amp alt and 1 batt in the front and 3 batts in the back(some big *** northstar's or something)

...it was just a completely misinformed comment...

i just thought it was off the wall that someone suspected it was a factory alt, nothing more

and ya, i've heard the hk's can **** up some current.

also. snoopdan recommends relaying the remote turn on to a direct 12v source directly to a battery. i didn't know how to do this, and it's really the only reason i didn't end up getting the hk over my lanzar.

never heard anything bad about them.

you did the right thing by getting the lanzar over the hk

he means you can achieve higher voltage with an adjustable external voltage regulator. that would require a seperate alternator, tho.

there are companies that sell voltage step-up regulators, so you can use one alternator to give your car's interior 14v, and your system 17v or higher, tho.

They were originally for people running hydraulics, to recharge their battery banks, but there are ones specifically geared for audio applications, now.
