Most of those kits throw out a garbage light pattern that throws much of the usable light up towards the tree tops because the housings in stock non-HID vehicles are not designed to work properly with HIDs. Everybody thinks they're awesome because when they turn on their headlights they blast light everywhere, but alot of it isn't goin to the areas where you actually need to see most at night, and alot of it IS going directly into the eyes of on-coming drivers.

A proper HID light pattern consists of pretty close to a straight line at the top of the beam with evenly dispersed light everywhere below it and almost none above it. They're designed to throw the light far and spread it evenly with minimal glare (upward, scattered, unfocused light). Most people who get these post pics of beam patterns that look nothing like that but still swear it's awesome because they think they seem more light, when what they're really seeing is wasted light in places where you dont' want it. The most effective HID kits involve retrofitting HID projector headlight housings that came stock on some other vehicle into your car or else doing a pretty good job of altering your kit to get that same effect.

Kaixen HID kits are probably the best on the market right now.

http://www.kaixenkits.com/

Kaixen is an ISO 9001 certified manufacturer that develops and builds its own components (unlike some companies that buy them from China and re-assemble it). It currently holds E13, TUV, and QS9000 quality certifications. It is the only other company in the world (other than Phillips) to have developed the diamond-shape bulbs.
Kaixen HID kits were first sold using Philips/Matshushita ballasts and bulbs starting in 1999. Since then, Kaixen has recieved its own license as well as hiring several key engineers from Germany to develop its own high quality ballast / bulbs since 2002. As stated above, KAIXEN is the only other company other than Philips to develop the diamond-cut bulbs. Kaixen is ISO2001 registered, E13 certified, and KQA quality assurance certified. All kits are made direct from the factory, and are not "rebased" as most Philips HID kits are made. The HID kits come with 1-year full replacement warranty.

I have the ones off eBay that come in a red box in my fogs. It's shown in the listing picture as a red box. Have Mobile HID in my headlights, and Mod Express as my reverse lights. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
