I'm Jeff, a Mac computer consultant from Lazarus Communications and I'm an old audiophile who used to do installations. I'm very confused with the latest products by old school brands like MB Quart, Hifonics, and Soundstream. They used to be heavy hitters and now they are mid-fi at best.
I'm looking at Alumapro, Alpine R series, and Yzen Sublevel 4 subs to replace a wonderful slammin CDT sub that was victimized by a bad amp. CDT's coming out with a new line and I'm holding out for that line in about a month. After years of testing, returning, buying, and blowing out subs and component speakers, CDT was recommended to me and I was floored! Their packaging is cheesy and their marketing is inexpensive, but their speakers are all they make and they have a lifetime guarantee for an extra $20 (well worth it seeing as their retail price is on the low end for hi-fi speakers). I have ALL CDT speakers and crossovers in my 2000 Passat wagon and Alpine electronics. Putting in a new sub to replace a still working old school round Kicker Solobaric 12", the Ph650 Sound Processor by ALpine, the Alpine PDX1.600, and a BatCap 2000. This should be a sweet improvement especially when I include the newest 12" CDT sub in about a month.
Any advice would be appreciated.
