There are better kilowatt or more amps out there - I can think of a few that use the massive 3-500Z tetrodes to do around 1.5kW RMS.

thought of putting a 15 in a desk similar to this......any chance of a good idea.......maybe for an end table even? down firing.... how well do triangulated bxes work? im thinking a couple cheaper 15's in the rear corners of my room would be sweet

If you want to do that, build an extremely well-braced MDF enclousure and integrate that into the furniture.
