You have probably seen my numerous posts about different subwoofers and such since I'm now after the perfect system for me. I have done plenty of research now. All those thread are done with. I think I have finally narowed it down to 2 subwoofers. This time you gotta help me pick so I can get after them and please say why. Im after about 60% SPL, 40% SQ.

IT IS NOW DOWN TO:

2 TC-9 15"s

vs.

 

2 Fi BL15's

I have actually heard TC-9's (unlike BL's) and maann they sounded nice. The TC-9 is 800WRMS, BL is 1000. Im thinking TC-9's because I would have more breathing room for power (using a 2000W amp). I still need some input. I know both will be hella loud in my Ranger. Im 60% for the TC9's and 40 for the Fi's.

I like the tc option.. they are both plenty capable woofers, though!

1000 watts each is no problem for either of those woofers... by the specs the BL actually looks to be more efficient, with 140 grams less MMS (among other traits). Since you are leaning more towards SPL I suggest the BL... more efficiency, more x-max, and more thermal power handling.

Based on the specs the TC-9 is the better SQ choice ported due to it's lower Qts. I have a TC-9 based driver at the house now with similar specs to the TC-9 they are selling now, and it does sound quite good ported but is not very efficient.

im almost equal in the spl vs. sq department. i do want it wicked loud but it can't sound like ***. How loud can a TC-9 get compared to a BL? Both running on same power, 1000W. I heard BL's demand more power.

In a nutshell, I need something wicked loud but doesnt sound like ***.

might be their price tags. and he's looking for 60% spl & 40% sq. the mag would give him much more than 40% sq (if these percentages even make sense)

i would think with exactly 2k...and you have somewhat a concern for SQ that Q's would have been an option...two 15" Q's ported tuned to 32 htz... i have 1 18 on 1000 watts and am doing low 140's...

what is loud to you?

im in a ranger extended so the subs are right behind me so its not hard to be loud to me. as far as db's it would be cool to hit at least 135 maybe
