but is there a program that could sort all my mp3s according to something in the filename so that i dont get this on my IPOD...

Artist A

Artist A ft. artist B

Artist A ft. artist C

etc....my folder that contains my music is checked read only and even when i uncheck it, it re-checks itself....so i cant even sit here for hours on end and change stuff in itunes...

let me know!

when i got my ipod and had to set all my MP3's to their corresponding albums and track sequence i had to do it manually in itunes. took me 3 days for 12,000mp3's. i also put all the album arts they had manually too.

i would start doing that...but i cant change the file names from itunes...because the folder my music is in keeps rechecking it self to "read only"

i have that checked and its still not working....every time i go back to the hard drive it is checked as read only and i still cant manually change stuff.

yeah...im still looking...i cant for the life of my get my mp3's to become read only so that i can change the names of them in Itunes...i dont understand it

found what i believe to be a solution

Not being able to edit song info using **Get Info** - I had this problem and all the forum "experts" still didn't get it solved so I had to solve it myself, so here goes:- (this works in Vista)

Open Windows Explorer, browse to your directory that is holding all your music folders, for me it is - Computer, 500GBMyBook (D:), Ripped.

Expand the folder that is the problem, for example if you cannot edit any Coldplay X&Y information in iTunes, then the folder you require is X&Y in the Coldplay folder.

Right click on the X&Y folder and select Properties, then select the Security Tab, use the scroll bar on the right to scroll down to: Users(Home\Users) highlight this line and then click "Edit"

Give Vista permission to continue, a new dialog box will appear (Permissions for X&Y), highlight Users(Home\Users) and check the "Allow" tick box next to Full control, then click apply. A windows security box will briefly appear granting security permissions to the folder in question. Click Ok on both dialog boxes to exit.

You can now go into iTunes and edit the info.

THIS DEFINETLY WORKS I HAVE DONE IT TO NUMEROUS LISTINGS
