head unit wiring problem

i was wiring a head unit into a 03 oldsmobile alero the other day and i got the factory wiring diagram off of modified life. com. first of all the factory bundle doesnt have an illumination wire and the diagram said that the 12v switched wire is "class 2 data" what the hell is that? ha ive never seen something like that the switched is usually a solid color.. and i checked all the unused wires with a dmm when the key was turned to accesory and theres no other hot wires other than the constant which i have hooked up already. any suggestions? i cant figure out how to get this thing working

if you just need a switched power source it should be easy enough to find with a dmm and the fusebox. try the cig lighter.

why dont u just goto wal mart and spend $5 and get a wiring harness? it plugs right in....

you dont need an illlumination wire? becuase on one car i wired we couldnt get it to work and then found out it was because there was no illumination wire hooked up. and the headunit should work without the switched connected right? cause its not doing anything yea but the constant is aready wired as well as the ground

you need 3 things to power on... constant 12v, ground, remote.

X2. stupidity. tellin u $5 at wally world gets u a wiring harness, all colors match up and just crimp em together
