head unit that heats up quick.

i've been scoping out a kenwood ez-500 on egay. its pretty low priced and for sale as is. the guy says it powers up but doesnt play sound and heats up quick. Think i could de-solder the output stage and use it strictly with the rca's? it plays through the rca's as is. but just gets super hot very quick.

it heats up because it is shorting out somewhere. It is just a matter of time before it affects the whole deck. buy the deck and then spend $50 to have an elctronics tech trouble shoot it and make it more reliable. might end up with a $165 working deck worth $300. could be bad resistors or bad caps. easy fix.
