So I had a stereo hooked for almost a year now and all of a sudden it decided to make a popping sound twice and then a long beep. Well it was under warranty and I sent it in..

I got one off a friend to use for a while, well today the same happened.

Any idea whats happening? The.volume was only at halfway, and no gain above 1/3. I checked my amps and grounds. Everything to the sub was fine... So idk what went wrong. But im.pissed.

The hu wont turn on now.

And this is the second time in a week. I have a seperate relay for the subs and door speakers.

I cant find any loose grounds.

I cant find a blown fuse yet, but im sure its there.

The sub amps were playing healthy. Sub wasnt warm, speakers good.

Whats happeningg?

The HU gods are mad at both of us it looks like.. Check all fuses again and even if they dnt look blown they still may be its worth replacing them to give it a shot if it dosent fix the issue ur only out a few bucks.

fuses are clean. i checked all my big three and underhood wiring, fine. when i checked my sub amps wires, one of the positives was out. would that affect it?

the separate remote wire is fine..

Whats going on bros?

if it happened twice, it has to be a wiring factor.

would it be from a problematic sub or amp(s)?

IDK hearing noises always makes me suspect a voltage problem related to maybe a short on any wire really, but I'd check the ones that are very live. Remote wire, Power RCA maybe even antena, I'd just check every connection and make sure they are all done right if they aren't yet, if that means you gotta solder everything zip tie things down Problems usually occur at the connections points, but if that doesn't work check the wire itself, go around with a multimeter to your fuses and check both ends of them.

Wires are easier to check and fix then the circuit boards themselves so just hope it's a wiring problem or else it may be unfixable.

Could be the RCAs as you say maybe just replace them to see if they are low quality I would anyways.

Blown fuse maybe, but everything has power right?

Whats your system RMS and what do you have for electrical setup?

You could always take it to an auto-electric shoppe, they are quite good at finding electrical problems and really fast.

i have 2 aq1200ds strapped to the sub.

thats what i was running at half power. if that when this occured.

i have the big three, stinger spv 69 in back. deka 9a31 i believe is the name up front.

big three. stock alt.

running at 2 ohms.

and not hard either.

it cant be a fuse for a repeatted occurance though.

i have 3 sets of rcas, ill swap them out with a diff and see. just baffles me..

my voltage never went under 12.6

The sony yes. Wont turn on.

The pioneeer popped twice. And the sound distorted horribly. I turned the car off and on,

Only distortion played through.

Disconnected the rcas from the amp, no issues. It had to be from the hu i thought.

Two different HU's? Wow.

A simple way to isolate all the electrical going to the HU would be to use a cheap, hand held source (mp3 nano or whatever) -that you are willing to sacrifice in the name of trouble shooting.

Use the headphone output and convert it to rca, then connect it to each of the rca's going to your amps. (One at a time)

If your hand held survives both amps individually, try running them at the same time just as your HU was running them. If it's still alive after all that, I would suspect the power going to the HU (wires, ground etc) or the speaker loads if you have an speakers powered by the HU.

I'm not 100% sure I understand your system layout from what I've read thus far, but if you are using the HU to power your mids and highs directly, get a meter on each pair of speaker wires and make sure you are at or above 4 ohms. (ballpark, dmm might read as low as 3.5-ish or so)
