Head unit is sticking out waaaaay fay

Just put my Eclipse AVN660 in my 03 Escalade. it sticks out about 1.5" from the HVAC controls and looks awkward.

there is a metal bracket back there that is preventing the radio with all the new wires to set further back.

What have you guys done to get the radio to sit more flush...

I want to know if I can cut this bracket out or should the wires be able to be pushed more to the side to make the HU to sit back further...

if you go on crutchfield most heaadunits will say they require 'slight' modifications.

Anyway, the bar is just to hold your stock headunit steady. You can either bend it backward (its rather flimsy) or cut it off. Obviously pushing on it is much easier than fitting a saw back there.

Dang- That is a stiff piece of steel. I took a dremel to it (as it is attached to the dash and somewhere lower too) I could only cut the top of it loose and ran out of blades.

I took a hammer to it and got it to bend back about 3/4 of an inch. I still need another 3/4 of an inch

Maybe they braced them differently in 03+ trucks.
