raverx3m 10+ year member Senior VIP Member 338 1 new york Oct 29, 2009 #24 when you hook it up to the amp it will give you better(less noise) signal heres how it works when a head unit says it has 2.5v preout it means that the RCA out voltage reaches 2.5 at full volume so at 50% yo will be about 1.25v in 4 volt headunit at 50% you will be at 2 volts.
