Head unit delete

Hi folks, just joined your forum for a little advice please. I have an old 911, 1979, and it has had may head units over the years. So many that my dash is a little worse for the wear, beyond repair and in need of replacement.

With all that in mind, I'd like to remove the head unit and fill in the hole. But...

I'd like to be able to listen to my iphone/MP3 player either through USB or 3mm jack. Is there a discrete install I can put behind the dash (theres plenty of room) and run a cable out to connect to the tunes?

I'd like to run 4 speakers but would settle for 2, don't need anything fancy, and yes, I am a complete novice!

Thanks in advance.

keep it simple. Fix your dash and install a good single DIN HU with usb & 3.5mm jack. if you want more power install an amp, the PXi50.2 has about the same power or less as most HU's and no radio(didn't see usb in the specs). I use a flash drive(via usb in the glove box) and SD card at the highest quality my HU can read and can also Bluetooth from my phone, tunes and hands free. In California you will get a ticket for not using hands free, not sure about the Emerald Iles. In other words a Pioneer 6500BT for around $120 gives you way more options.
