Head unit cuts out when turned up

Ok we just installed a new Alpine 9847, and four Alpine 61/2's in our boat. We used all wiring that was used on Blaupunkt tape deck that was in there. HU works fine but when turned up near 20 it cuts out and shuts off and turns back on. Its worse when playing CD's. I was thinking we might need a better ground, but wanted some suggestions before tearing it all apart

Yes, check the ground... maybe the power/ground wire is too small?

ahh dude i had this problem before

it turned out i wasnt supplying enough power to the head unit... check if the battery isnt too weak...

thats wat it is... its the battery. i got a really week battery and if i leave it down then its fine and when i turn it up then it cuts off.... i gotta get a new battery... lol

Battery was the first thing we did. We have like 1000 CA marine deep cycle in there

wiring may be an issue if you have a good battery

You're getting a voltage drop somewhere. It's very common for boat wiring to become corroded at terminal and fuse blocks. Try running new power and ground wires directly to the battery, instead of using the existing wiring. (If the head unit is set up to turn on/off with a key or accessory switch, don't change the red wire; a voltage drop on that wire won't hurt the performance unless it's really extreme.)
